How these comparisons work
Every comparison uses the same inputs, so you can read them side by side. Train times are the fastest, median and slowest scheduled direct trains to Grand Central leaving between 5:00 and 8:59 AM on one weekday, taken from Metro-North's published schedule data. We also count how many direct trains leave between 6:00 and 8:59 AM, because frequency matters as much as speed when you miss a train.
Home prices are SmartMLS medians for the full year 2025, reported separately for single-family homes and condos. A median sale price tells you about the market, not about a specific home. Property taxes use each town's FY2027 real estate mill rate from the Office of Policy and Management, with the bill it implies on a sample home. Several towns revalued recently, so a lower rate does not always mean a lower bill.
Where a figure is still being checked, such as monthly ticket prices or a school rating from the current edition of a ranking, we say so with a visible "to verify" label rather than guess.

Common questions
Where do the figures on these comparison pages come from?
Train times come from Metro-North's published GTFS schedule for Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Home prices are SmartMLS full-year 2025 medians, mill rates are the FY2027 rates published by the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management and rankings name their edition. Anything we have not confirmed is flagged "to verify".
Do you rank one town above another?
No. Each comparison gives a short verdict for different priorities, such as commute or price, and shows the data so you can weigh it yourself.
Can I get help comparing specific homes?
Yes. We can introduce you to one licensed Connecticut agent who works in the towns you are comparing. The introduction is free to you.
